Where Our Data Comes From

Every GSTIN record shown on GSTVerify — legal name, trade name, registration status, taxpayer type, address, filing history — is sourced directly from the official GST portal API maintained by the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN), accessed via getbusiness.co.in. We don't scrape, estimate, or self-report any of this — it's the same underlying registry data GSTN itself publishes.

The one thing we compute ourselves is the GST Health Score — a proprietary index built entirely from the GSTN fields above (see the full factor breakdown below). It is not sourced from GSTN and is not an official rating.

How Fresh Is the Data

GSTIN records are cached for up to 30 days after a successful fetch, to keep lookups fast and avoid hammering the upstream API with repeat requests for the same business. Every result page shows whether it was served from cache or fetched live, plus a "Last verified" date, so you always know exactly how current the data you're looking at is.

If you spot data that looks stale or wrong, every GST profile page has a "Report incorrect data" link at the bottom — we review and correct these directly.

How the GST Health Score Is Calculated

The score is built from four weighted factors derived directly from GSTN API data — no guesswork, no self-reported information:

The score is not an official GSTN/CBIC rating, and a high score is not a guarantee of ITC eligibility — it's a risk indicator meant to be combined with your own GSTR-2B reconciliation, not a replacement for it. Full detail and FAQs are on the GST Health Score page itself.

Independence & Limitations

GSTVerify is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to GSTN, CBIC, or the Government of India. For anything time-sensitive or high-stakes (a large payment, an ITC claim under audit), always cross-check against the official portal at gst.gov.in or your CA.
